Lillian Gale was my grandmother who married William Henry Fox, some time in 1903 My great-grandfather was James Gale, worked as a labourer until he dropped dead in around 1920+ going to work. The family lived at 64 Berrymead Gardens. William Henry Fox died in India in 1914 (WW1) leaving Lillian with four children, William (Bill); Grace, Ivy (b 1911) and Hilda. Before the war he worked as a gardener at The Elms, Acton. I wondered if anyone out there remembers any of them? My grandmother worked in a laundry, but she could also have been in service at the time she married. Incidentially, I am married to a first cousin. |
