AUSTIN or AUSTEN Born 16th February 1872 Lambeth, London. JOHN AUSTIN was born WARREN JOHN Austin, but the 1901 census has him as JOHN. His father was Edward Charles Austin b C 1831. WARREN JOHN AUSTIN (may have been known as JOHN Austin) was a musician with the Royal Marines Light Infantry by 1901, and later may have been a teacher. He lived at 94 Greenways Crescent, Kingston-by-Sea, Shoreham-by-Sea,Sussex in 1939 and 1940. No listings for this house appear until 1947 when the house was occupied by a JAMES PATRICK AUSTIN. In 1948 WARREN AUSTIN was registered there again - with a Lilian Hillyard. By 1949 no occupant was listed. Are the two Austins related? Who was Lilian Hillyard? What was her relationship to the Austins? Any information on the above people, their ancestors and decendants, would be much appreciated. Regards Diana |
