Hi. HMS INDOMITABLE - FIRE ONBOARD IN THE 1950's I am trying to locate anyone who has information on a fire which happened aboard HMS Indomitable during the 1950's near the Malta vacinity. My uncle, Terry (Terrence) Laing, was onboard this ship when he was in the Navy. I believe the ship was an aircraft carrier and somehow there was a fire (my mom thinks it was caused by oil catching fire?). My uncle was very badly burned and spent a long time in a Malta Hospital. He did not talk very much about it, but my mom has always wondered what happened and what happened to any of Uncle Terry's mates onboard. There was one young lad, 16 years old, burned to death - he was called Terry Smith? and was from Middlesbrough, England. If anyone can relate to the above in any way whatsoever, please contact me, as my mom is anxious to hear ANYTHING. Thank you for reading this! Regards, Carole (Canada)
