ELIZA CLUBBE (Snr) born abt 1814. CHESHIRE. I first locate Eliza living at Chester House of Industry(Workhouse) 1841 census. At that time also on 1841 census there is an Ann Clubbe born abt 1811. Also an Ellen Clubbe aged 3. Research on Ellen gives Eliza as mother. 1851 census Eliza still resides @Chester House of Industry employed as a launderess. No sign of of Ellen or Ann. 20th June 1851 daughter Eliza (jnr)is born no father on birth cert . 1870. Eliza (jnr) marries and the marriage cert gives fathers name as Thomas Clubbe. I can find no record of a marriage for Eliza (snr) . I would love to resolve this mystery, Where did Eliza(snr)Ellen and Ann originate ? are Eliza(snr) and Ann sisters? who where their parents? what happened that they ended up in the workhouse as young women? when did they enter the workhouse? On one of the available census it states that Eliza is deaf, usually in those times it also meant deaf and dunb. could this be genetic or a injury at birth.? So many questions go round in my head, does anyone have information that can help, if so, forever in your debt.........Joyce(Canada)
