Trying to find Rayner

Emma Jane Rayner - born Longham, Norfolk 20 Mar 1862 and appears as such in census returns and on marriage certificate 29 Sep 1887 Santon Downham, Suffolk. After much searching over many years, I now find that she was born as Emma Jane Purple. Her mother Mary Ann Purple married Henry Rayner 12 Nov 1864. Emma Jane Purple/Rayner married John Place. Some GR contributors wrongly assign her as my mother's mother. She was not the mother of Bertha Place. Even worse than that, my mother's birth name was Edith Winifred Place. Emma Jane Rayner is a fairly common name in East Anglia, I made quite a few false starts and spent quite a bit of money ordering wrong certificates! Don
