Trying to find Montgomery

Wendy Report 25 Jun 2007 07:26

My maternal uncle, George Maxwell Montgomery, emigrated to Australia circa 1912 from Killough, Co.Down, Northern Ireland with his parents and three siblings. Six more children were born in Australia. He was born in Northern Ireland to Robert Maxwell Montgomery and Elizabeth (nee Laird) Montgomery in 1905. They settled in Sydney at Tamarama Beach. During WWII he left home, possibly due to a broken romance, and was last heard of in Cooktown, Queensland, Australia. He never contacted his family again and his whereabouts remain a mystery (perhaps even in death). I would dearly love to know if he had a family that would like to contact the descendants of Robert and Elizabeth Montgomery. My mother, Lillian, was the first child born in Australia following her family's emigration. There were seven girls and three boys, George being the eldest of the 10 siblings. There is still family living in Co.Down and of course many descendants living in Australia: New South Wales, Queensland and Victoria. All the children of my grandparents are now deceased. If any descendants of George are out there, it would complete the family tree. Thanks. Best wishes. Wendy.
