Trying to find Bates

Graham Report 19 Jun 2007 19:54

Any information about the Bates-Cheesman decendants of Alfred and Ann (nee Bates) Cheesman who appear in the 1861 census with children Frederick 15, James 14, Ann 12, Emma 10, Margaret 9, Rose (Rosa) 7 & Raphael 5. There may have been an elder boy William and ? who appear in 1851 census.

The Children may have used the family name of Bates (or Cheesman) at some time on its own or as the double-barreled name Bates-Cheesman. Some children may have been fostered after 1861 by a relative - Bates?). Some or all may have reverted to Cheesman later. Raphael kept the Bates name throughout his life (my family).

I only have odd bits of info.

Thank you. Graham
