Trying to find Hooton

Ada Hooton, aged 31 years, married Arthur Bani Taylor, 23, at the Independent Methodist Chapel, Cleckheaton, Yorkshire, on 27 January, 1903. (This from Marriage Certificate.) Her father, Edwin, deceased at the time of the marriage, had been a carpenter. Her residence is given as Victoria Buildings, Moor End, Cleckheaton. The marriage was witnessed on her side by Ellen and John Henry Eastwood. They went to Bordeaux in France where he ran a business and lived there for many years. She apparently died there in 1919, according to a letter written by a friend to his nephew and executor, but he stayed there until 1940, when he came back to live in Avonmouth, and died there in 1967 I cannot find either Ada or Edwin in the 1891 or 1901 censuses, which is strange. Any information gratefully received 20.06.07 I have since found Edwin, 36, wife Jane, 24, and daughters Ada, 11, and Ellen, 3 months, in the 1881 census living in Blankey's Yard, Gainsborough, Lincs., together with 6 unrelated employees! Edwin is described here as a house furnisher. I have tried in vain to find evidence that this Ellen became the Ellen Eastwood who witnessed Ada's marriage, but it seems likely. Neither can I find any trace of any of these people in earlier censuses. There is of course a discrepancy between Ada's age in the 1881 census, and her age on the marriage certificate in 1903, but I tend to think that they are the same person.
