Trying to find Lemon

Hi I hope someone out there can help us as we are trying to find some info on Gertrude Lemon and her husband John W Smith as all we know about this couple is the info on my husbands birth certificate as he and his two brothers and one sister were put in a Home until being fostered out when my husband was 7 years old. My husband was born in March 1945 in Edward Street in Aldershot Hampshire. We know his father was alive on the 28th of April that year as he Registered my husbands birth. My Husband was told as a child that his mother and father had died but could it have been something else? Could Gertrude have died and john not been able to coup so he put the children into care.
