Trying to find Hampson

I am trying to find information on my great-great grandfather William HAMPSON, born abt 1856 in Wigton, Cumberland, England. He married Dorothy HOWE in Cumberland, England in 1876. William was a plasterer/modeller. They had several children (Lightfoot Lamonby, Thomas William, Sarah Elizabeth) before moving to Australia in 1884 on board the 'Abergeldie'. In Australia they had several more children (Ernest, Margaret - my great-grandmother, May and Mary). William left Dorothy and the children in abt 1905 and it is believed he returned to England.
