Scousemaid Report 6 Jun 2007 09:53

My Gt gt Grandfather James Dolan came to Liverpool with his wife Mary (maiden name unknown) and his sons Patrick, John (my gt grandfather) and Martin in 1849/50 probably due to the famine. The parents worked as makers of brooms and the older boys, aged 11 and 9 were 'Hawkers of brooms' on the 1851 census. Mary died and James subsequently married a widow, Julia Loftus (nee Downing). My GT Grandfather John b about 1842) married Rose Ann (maiden name unknown and also born in Ireland) and one of their children was my grandmother Julia (she married Ted Prenton in 1905). Family history says that the family originally came from Waterford or Wexford. Does anyone recognise this family, there were other children, and know exactly where in Ireland they originated?
