Family connections to Scotland and / or Northern Ireland? Then maybe you could help us with info on JOHN BRUCE YOUNG (senior and junior). JOHN BRUCE sen married ISABELLA LAMB in Scotland in 1865. Isabella died at the birth of JOHN BRUCE (jun) in 1872. We think there was at least one other child born beforehand. Since John Bruce (sen) was a sea captain working at sea off the Scottish shore he was unable to look after his son(s) and John Bruce (jun) was brought up by Isabella's sister (no name, or locality unfortunately). As a teenager the younger John Bruce was subsequently sent to Northern Ireland (probably COOKSTOWN Co Tyrone) as a photographer's assistent. We would be very grateful for any help you can give us with our search. Regards Mary |
