Hi my grandfather was WILLIAM ( 'paddy' ) coughlan. I think he was born in 1895. He served in both wars and suffered shrapnel. He married a woman called DOLLY ( possibly short for dorothy). He was an irish man who was told never to set foot in ireland again after he joined the british army. He had connections with the SOMME. He came from ireland and settled in wales ( cardiff) he and his wife went on to have 3 children, EILEEN (possibly born 1925), EDWARD born 1935, WILLIAM born 1936. I know he had a glass eye and he loved his drink. If this sounds at all familliar please let me know. thank you Julie
