Trying to find Bosworth

I am trying to find a James Bosworth born in Glasgow 1847/8.He married Married Mary Ellen Bentley in 1867 at Tunstead Holy Trinity church Lancs.Children were James William born in Spotland Lancs.,Mary Elizabeth born 1875 in Toronto, Canada, and Susan Alice born 1880 in Spotland Lancs. James and his family emigrated to Canada - he went as a lumberjack,and were there between 1871 and 1881. They are in the British census for both 1871 and 1881, so they were not there long due to mishaps. The family story goes that there were two brothers(who we think must have been James' 1847/9 brothers) who tried to swim Niagara Falls. One tried to save the other and both drowned. We were told that a brother stayed over there. If anyone could unravel this mystery or are related to the above, I would love to hear from you. Many thanks in anticipation. P.S On James and Mary Ellen's Marriage, his father is given as James Holt ( Quarryman just like James) of Frost Holes in Lancs.Does anyone know why and why he is living with him in the census as a lodger? |
