Member Since: May 2005 Posts: 39 Send Message	Does anyone living in Inverness -Petty area or South Leith,Scotland have ancestors Alexander Anderson and Janet McKenzie who had son Peter Anderson,born Petty,Inverness,on 10th August 1786.Peter married Christian Purdie in Dunbar in 1806 while he was serving in the Inverness Militia. Can anyone tell me about the Militia,were they regular soldiers? Peter Anderson became a Kirk Officer and Beadle in the established church in South Leith -would this have been the Parish Church.This would be from around 1840 to his death in 1861. Doreen
