I am trying to trace relatives belonging to my great-grandmother ISABELLA BOWLER (NEE HOWE). ISAABELLA was born in Carlisle arounfd 1847 - her mother was ANN (NEE HUDSON) and her father was JOHN HOWE - Cabinet Maker from CARLISLE/PENRITH AREA. - Isabella married BIGLAND BOWLER in Bredbury Stockport Cheshire c 1870. Following her marriage Isabella settled in Denton in Manchester and had seven children, ANN born in CARLISLE, FRED, BEN, JAMES,ROBERT, JOHN HOWE (My Grandfather) and HERBERT all born in DENTON and I wonder if in fact was ISABELLA connected in any way to JOSEPH HOWE & SONS Hat Manufacturers in Denton???? Bigland Bowler (husband of Isabella) was a hatter by trade. Would appreciate any Information. Many Thanks Angela |
