Trying to find Watson

I am unable to trace my grandfather Ernest Watson on the 1901 census . He was born in July 1898, I believe in Croxdale, County Durham. His father was Thomas Watson and his mother's name was Margaret Ferry. I have been unable to find a marriage certificate, so have no clue as to Thomas's age and there are zillions of Thomas Watsons! His father was also Thomas Watson ( I believe that he was a coachman) and his mother Sarah nee Hope. I have found a match in another tree but have had no response from the owner. Any assistance thta anyone could give would be much appreciated.
