Trying to find Fitzgerald

Hi Guys, I am trying to find a Michael Fitzgerald who had a partner called Beverley Jane Kearns, they had a son together in 1984 who was named Michael Kearns Fitzgerald young Michael was born in St. Annes near Blackpool and we think this is the area where his father comes from. Beverley Jane Kearns comes from Liverpool where Michael now lives and he wants to find his father. We think he was born around 1964 give or take a few years. I have looked on the records for England and Wales and have had no joy. I am wondering if his birth place was Scotland/or ireland but do not know how to access the Scottish files.
