Does anyone know anything about a man called Evans who was also known as The Shropshire Giant? I believe his name was James Evans, but not sure about that (James could be his Son) & he was a bare knuckle fighter & won some sort of a belt for his fighting. My Husband is the descendant of a John Henry Evans from or moved to Nottingham. John had 3 Sons called Jack, Harry & Trevor & 2 Daughters called Reba & Betty. If anyone knows anything about the fighter or where I can find out about fighting in those days-maybe there is something recorded somewhere about this chap. |
