The PODMORE Family of Broad Lane/ Hawarden........ I am descended from MARY PODMORE, who was born 1746 at Broad Lane /Hawarden, Flintshire........ Her parents were WILLIAM PODMORE and MARGARET JONES, who married 27th March 1744. Margaret was William's 2nd wife. He married MARY LEE in 1742. This poor lady died in 1743.......... William was a Yeoman farmer, who died in 1784. His children were.......... Mary Podmore October 1746 William Podmore May 1750 Sarah Podmore December 1753 Richard Podmore November 1759 John Podmore June 1764 All were born Broad Lane , Hawarden , Flintshire In fact most of the Podmores in the area, are descended from William and Margaret. Some were affluent farmers, magistrates etc BUT....where was William born? Certainly not in the area, as I have purchased the Parish Registers from 1717 onwards. No sign of him before 1743....... I have a feeling he may be from High Ercall, but can't prove it . I think he may have been born c1720 +/- 5 years Anyone missing a WILLIAM PODMORE ? Any help, most welcome Kind regards Jean |
