Trying to find Owen

Simon Report 14 May 2007 14:19

Hi there. I am Simon OWEN, and am desperate to establish more about my late father's side of the family. He, Norman Owen was born in ST HELENS, LANCS in December 1919. His parents were William Owen (was a long distance lorry driver), and Sarah (Sally) Owen (nee Callaghan). She was originally from County Cork. They would have both been born in the 1880's. My dad had 7 siblings: LIONEL (died in the 70's), SANDY, MADGE (married Jimmy Rainford), MOLLY (married Bert Roberts), NAN, ANNE, Ruth & JIM (emigrated to australia). Either Anne or Nan kept a pub for years and had a bit of a drink problem. As far as I know, most of the family remained in the St Helens area, and for a long time there was an association with Pilkingtons. I know very little about my grandparents who both died before I arrived in 1964. I know that there were twin cousins who were killed in WW1. There were also various Aunts and uncles, but sadly I have no names at all. My dad left St Helens in 1938 by joining the navy. He remained in the navy for most of his working life. He married my mum Winifred Henning in Hampshire in 1943 and settled in the Fareham area. Dad died in 2001. There was talk that he fathered a child in Hong Kong before he met my mum, but this was never confirmed. That child would now be 65 - 67 and would be half chinese. I hope that this is true, and that I one day get to meet my brother or sister. I would be so glad to hear from anyone, however distant the relationship. Thanks for reading this.
