Does anyone have a Sarah Bawden b 1840? Weston Zoyland, Somerset, in their family tree, her parents were Thomas (John) and Prudence Bawden - if so I would love to hear from you.

My GG grandfather, George Henry Bowden b.1876 (also known as Jerry or Jeremiah Bowden) left London For Australia some time between 1908 and 1916 and we think started a family there. His Father Was joseph Bowden, and he had many brothers and sisters - Amelia 1865, Joseph 1866, Mary Ann 1868, William 1870, Edwin 1872, Thomas 1878, Elzabeth 1880 and Richard 1882. - all born in and around stepney and poplar. we know that george b1876 married a Mary Ann Celiz ne Titchen in 1908 and had a son, also called george. But he left the country and moved to australia. No one knows why. He joined the Australian Army in 1916, when he was living in Fremantle near Perth, and went back to autralia in 1919 after the war (although i dont know exactly where) there are rumours that he started another family in Aus, but they have been circulating for 90 years, so we dont know how much truth there is in them. i would love to hear from any Australian Bowdens who think that they may have roots in London. post a reply if you can - lucy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Barbara Upfold (22/01/2007 08:55:40) I am trying to find the Maiden Name of my husband's gr-gr-grandmother, Margaret, who married Charles BOWDEN around 1850 (date unknown). Charles BOWDEN was born in Chudleigh, Devon, in 1827, and Margaret was born in Trusham, Devon, in 1833 (date unknown). Im looking for my grandson Harry Bowden ,he was born april 1990, his mother was J Bird .I have not seen Harry for nearly 15 years. but i think of him all the time. The last i heard his surname is simmons .and he lives in the watford area. I have the following information so far. my gfa was: James Bailey Bowden. (1913 - 1986) He was born in Cheshire and died in Blackpool. He was a Tram Driver. He married Edith Wood (b 1913 also in Cheshire) in 1935 at Staly Bridge. She undertook home duties and had a sister (Beatrice) They had two children - James Bowden (b c1940) and John Gilbert Bowden (b 1944). They lived in London, Westminster we beleive. Margaret was my husbands aunt. We are desperately trying to trace her brother Alfred Kenneth Young. If anybody out there has information about Margaret or Reg Bowden we would love to hear from you. He married Elizabeth Webber and they had 3 boys. William, James and Joseph (my direct Ancestor) Elizabeth died in 1854. I have been unable to find William. James married Emma and had 7 children 6 of whom were born in South Molton Devon. The children were: William Henry B. 1871 Joseph B. 1873 James b. 1875 Frederick Samuel b. 1880 John 1882 Alice 1885 Herby 1887 Jessie 1889 Emily 1893 born in Glamorgan Wales. In the 1901 census they were in Wales. Henry remarried to Mary Ann Ebdon in 1869. They had David Sarah and Annie, all born in Collumpton, Devon. It appears that David moved to Somerset and Henry and Mary Ann did as well Henry died 1900. David had married Elizabeth and had children, Mabel, Ernest, Ethel and Hector. I am searching for family related to these folks. Does any of this sound familiar to anyone. Hope to hear from you. Winnifred
