Hi Jackie
I have a Thomas and Hannah Cockroft, their children Clara, Walter & Albert all born in the Northowram Area of Halifax.
Clara was born 1880 and Albert b1888.
I have just started researching this side of my tree.
Thomas was b1848, Hannah b1850.
Albert who was my G Uncle b1892 and married Lucy Whitaker.
Do not know if this ties in with your family but I am trying to find Hannah's maiden name and Thomas's Parents.
Cheers Paul Holroyd

My 2xgt grandfather was William James Cockroft (born 1849 in Halifax) His father James was a wire drawer, his mother was Mary Crosby from Scalby - don't know how she got to Halifax, where she & James were married in 1844. James Cockroft was born c 1819 in Halifax, to James & Hannah Cockroft. In 1841 the family were living in Ovenden; James snr's age was given as was 60, his wife Mary 45 , their 2 sons James (20) and Joseph(20) and daughter Mary (15). I have reached a dead end with James & Hannah. There are several couples with those names; this James was also a wire drawer. Can anyone out there help? James was dead by 1851 according to that census but again, there are several deaths for James Cockrofts in that area, in that period.
