Hello Irene
My grandfather was called John McCartney 1905 he never talked about his family as he told my father Ronald 1936 that they did not speak to him when he married Annie. John was in the Navy I wonder if this was one of your fathers brothers. He had two sons one only alive today John McCartney was found in the River Tyne drowned he left two sons aged 6 and 7, Annie brought them up on her own. I am the only daughter of Ronald and would love to know more about this family.
Regards Karen

I am trying to get some info on my dads family who lived in Glasgow in the late 1800s early 1900s. They were called John and Annie McCartney. Annies maiden name was McKee. I know the McCartneys originally came from Ireland, but not sure about Annie. They married in Glasgow in December 1893. According to my mum they had a grocers shop. They had children called David, Elizabeth, James, Sarah, Martha and possibly a John as well, maybe some others but not sure. Dad didn't ever talk about his parents, but he did keep in contact with Sarah, Martha and David who lived in Canada and I once remembered Elizabeth visiting us when I was much younger. I would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about this family.
