Hi Joan, very interesting family.I have a Henry John Chisholm who married Anni Elizabeth Giles in Toodyay ,Western Aust.1877.I have yet to fully trace the Chisholm tree, but I have a Justice Percy Kemp relative married a Marion Janet Chisholm,in 1917,in Northampton,Western Australia.Chisholm,Giles,Kemp
Caroline is mentioned in the book 'Kings in Grass Castles'by Mary Durack,a most outstanding book about settlement in this country with some of the grass roots pioneers and families.Caroline Chisholm is mentioned as being an english born wife of an officer of the East India Company, arriving here in 1839,appalled by the treatment of women in the colony, and no support from the government she returned to England in 1846,and established the Family Colonisation Loan Society.Caroline charted her own ships, the first being the Slains Castle, didnt leave England till 1850.
Early recordings arent as good in W.Aust. as the eastern states,so if you keep in touch,we can swap info.regards John Kemp

I am trying to find anyone related to Caroline Chisholm (nee Jones), she is the lady who went out to Australia and became quite famous, even appearing on their 5 dollar note! She was born in Northampton in 1808, and died in 1877. She was married to Archibald Chisholm, he was from Scotland, Lochfin, to be precise. They had 7 children, 4 boys, and 3 girls. The girls I am not sure of, but the boys names where, Archibald, William, Sydney and John Henry(might be the other way round). Although there is quite a bit of onfo regarding Caroline, her children remain a mystery. My Grandmother, who is no longer with us, told everyone in our family that Caroline was my great, great, great grandmother, and I would dearly love to prove this, one way or another! So if anyone has any imformation, I would love to hear from you. Thanks. Suzy
