Trying to find Crute

I am trying to trace my Crute ancestors. I believe they originally came from Hampshire but some members moved to Sunderland in the late 18th early 19th Century. I believe a number of the male Crutes from Sunderland were seamen. My grandfather was John James Crute born 1875, he married Catherine and had a very large family.

Hi Catherine,
I, too, am trying to trace my Crute ancestors. My grandfather was John Charles Crute, born 1873, in Sunderland. His father was Joseph, whose father Charles was born in Lymington, Hampshire. Perhaps there is a connection with Charles.
Regards, Jane
