Roger Dominic De Ferry. Can anyone unravel a family mystery. My family name is Ferry and in 1844 Bailey Ferry married Mary Ann Hall and live in Newcastle upon Tyne. They had five children, 4 girls with the surname Ferry and then a boy that was given the surname De Ferry. My interest is why? In that area in c1200 was a noteworthy by the name of Roger De Ferry a legend in his time, was the boy deliberately named after this local hero. Alternatively was it a mistake by the vicar who at birth recorded the surname incorrectly. Roger Dominic De Ferry b1856 went onto marry Harriett Alexandra Walsh in 1862 and they had the following children all with the De Ferry name:- Edgar b1881, Alexandra Mary, Nora b1888, Eva, Nora, Violet, Arthur Cuthbert b1897 and William. I would like to contact anyone with De Ferry in their family tree as I have an amount of information to share. Steve Ferry
