Any Cottle Seamen out there? The surname appears on my great grandmothers birth certificate, however her father isn't listed. She was born on the (then) colonial caribbean island of Nevis and I'm intrigued to know if anyone has any history of how a Cottle could've ended up there. I have a few theories but would appreciate any input. She was born around 1900. Thanks. |

I don't know how they got there but there is a Cottle Church on Nevis. Someone who had picked up our name from the Iona Community members book sent us a postcard of it. It's the first Anglican Church in the Caribbean where whites and blacks worshipped together before emancipation. Sylvia Cottle |
