MARY SWEET born 1786 probably in Donyatt ,Somerset, certainly married there in 1806 to DAVID TROTT COMBES.If this could be connected to your names please let me know.Thank-you.

Hello Roger, down the road from Donyatt is a place called Merriot where there is a large Sweet presence. My Sweet ancestors are from Merriot and it wouldn't surprise me if this was where your Mary originated from. There is a dedicated Merriot genealogy site which has numerous links and researchers for the Sweet family name so take a look if you get the chance. the address is merriotfamiliesgenealogy.net/ so give it a go. Good Luck, feel free to contact me if you want any more help as I also live fairly close to Merriot, just over the border in Dorset, Lynne

Hello Lynne - perhaps you could help me - I have traced my great great great Grandad as Robert Sweet born about 1802 in Wellington Somerset. Married a Joanne or Emma or Anna (same person) born approx. 1812 in Middlesex. They had a son (mr Great Great Grandad) Mark Sweet born about 1849 in St Giles Middlesex who married an Isabella Dominick orn 1853 in plimlicoe. Married to each other in Chelsea 1815. Do you think I could have connection to the Sweets in Merriott ?

Hello Vivien, sorry to have taken so long to reply, but haven't ben on for a while. As I said to Roger there is a large Sweet family presence. The site I mentioned is full of researchers in just the same position as us with the Sweet family and they are all very friendly. The site is called Merriot Families Genealogy, to access it just use all lower case lettersa and remove the spaces. I really hope that you will find lots of information.
Good Luck with your searching, Lynne
