I am searching for descendants and ancestors of my great grandmother ANNIE LOUISA NORTON (nee AMBLER). She was married to PETER AMBLER at Leeds Registry Office on 26 April 1881. She is said to have been 21 at that time. She had issue – Jack (John Henry) born perhaps 1888 in Leeds, not sure – Kate, date of birth not known – Florence Emily, born 1883 Leeds – Annie born in Leeds circa 1900 and Chrissie (Christina? Born in Leeds circa1898. ANNIE LOUISA NORTON’S father on the marriage certificate was HENRY NORTON, born in Ranskill Nottingham. Her mother was EMMA JANE NORTON (maiden name not known) born 1835 Ranskill Nottingham. HENRY NORTON either owned or worked land in Ranskill; he is listed as a Farmer of 27 acres of land. His father was WILLIAM NORTON, who also worked on the farm. He is listed as being born in Ranskill Nottingham 1816. ANNIE LOUISA AMBLER cannot be found on the 1881 census but this can be explained by the fact that she was married quite near to the time the census was taken. I did find some information that she was a domestic servant in a large house in New Leeds, which was owned by an Italian Silversmith. There may be descendants living both in Leeds and Knottingham and I would be interested to hear from anyone tracing this family tree and willing to share information. |
