Hello I have just found out my gt grandmothers name was LOUISA MURCH. She was born in Bangalore in 1848, India and aged 16 married a THOMAS GILBEY over there. They had a son George over there 10 years later and then returned here and had 4 more children (one of which was my grandfather Frederick) I have just got details from the British Library of their marriage and it shows a WILLIAM MURCH as her father. I suppose he must have been born around 1820 , and he must have lived in India for at least 16 years. That is all I know about her family Does anyone have any records or information in their tress of a William Murch that went of to India ? Looking up the surname I have gathered that it is Anglo French (March) is that correct ? Thank you . Debbie |
