Hi Bob.

I think your approx date for birth of James is out by quite a bit.

Mary Lambie married James Mather. 1877. Manchester. vol 8d 284.

I.G.I.Mormon records show at the Cathedral. 10.9.1877.

On the I.G.I.index it also shows Elizabeth Lambie marrying William Williams on same day but I cannot find this on the official index.
Maybe an error in dates, or could be sisters???????

This marriage date would mean that James would have only been 13 if born 1864.
Copy of the marriage certificate will give their ages, their Father's names and occupations and witnesses who may be siblings.

If Elizabeth was Mary's sister, maybe she was listed as one of the witnesses.?????

Ethel.
