Trying to find Gentles

I am trying to find info on Peter Gentles and his wife Jane (formerly Miller). They had a son Robert (my grandfather) on 15/04/1881 at Avenue Road, Aston Manor Birmingham. I cannot find them on any census and have run into a brick wall. The info I have comes from Robert's birth certificate., giving Peter as a Glass Cutter. I believe Peter may have originated in the north of England or Scotland. Help please as I am really stuck on this branch of my tree.

Hi Christine Although not in our direct line I had made a note on the family you are interested in from LDS microfiche :- Peter Gentles married to Jane Miller 13 April 1866 in Springburn Glasgow. Children Thomas b 30 July 1866, Allen Miller b 6 Oct 1867, Jane b 6 March 1869, Peter b 30 Dec 1873 (all in Glasgow Central) then Charlotte b 21 Jan 1872 Bathgate. I then have a note of your Robert's birth date but can't remember how I came by that. I think one of the Gentles branches had a business in Glasgow to do with picture framing and mirrors so that could be a link to glass cutting. You should be able to access all the above events via the scotlandspeople website. Info on certs would include addresses and occupations. Their marriage cert would also give parents' names and occ of fathers. Our ancestor of about that time was Thomas Gentles who had a bakers shop in George St Glasgow. Good luck and let me know what you discover. Linda Gentles
