Hello Veronica,

My husband's side of the family are the Ruanes from Ballina, Co Mayo and his grandfather was a Michael but not the same one! We found out his great grandparents were Edward Ruane and Ellen Egan who had 10 children. Michael and his brother came over to England, Lancashire first then Michael went to Scotland. If we can help further please let me know.

We are trying to find details of my Grandparent's family who were from Bally Nar in County Mayo. Grandfather was called Michael Ruane (he pronounced it Rowanne) and Grandmother Catherine Ruane nee Malone. They came to West Yorkshire around about 1910 - 15 and were living in Campfields in Leeds when my mother Catherine was born in 1920. She had three siblings, Helen (Nellie) who was born circa 1908 and may not have been a full sister, then Mary born circa 1918 and a child who died as a baby about 1922. Catherine died in about 1923 and Michael died about 1930 and my mother Catherine and her sister Mary were then brought up by a couple they called 'nanny and nandad'. We think nandad was Michael Ruane's relative. Any help would be appreciated.
