Anyone doing a test with a genealogical company will have hundreds even thousands of results to compare.
In a case like this, if the official routes don’t work, a genealogical dna test may well lead one to a family relative.

Although has to be very careful with how one handles any information that arises from the tests. Better to go down the adoption register route first.

John is no longer a member of GR.

Adding to these very old posts is pointless - sorry

DNA is only of use if there is something with which to compare results.
