I wonder whether Antonia's Manwell could be this person (birth registered under two variations of name, the second one being in the Spanish form with mother's surname as part of surname):

Name: Manuel Pedro Garcia
Year of Registration: 1907
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Croydon
County: Greater London, Kent, Surrey
Volume: 2a
Page: 252

Name: Manuel P Garcia DE Gongora
Year of Registration: 1907
Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep
District: Croydon
County: Greater London, Kent, Surrey
Volume: 2a
Page: 252

He would be 100 if alive today, so he is a perfect candidate to be the husband of Mary now in his 90s.

Antonia may well have that info by now -- if not, the birth cert would give his parents' names, and then so on back.
