Garrett My grandfather was Herbert Lawes, of Greenwich. In 1893 he married Emily Alice Hibbit, and they had four children there, after which they moved to Aldershot. I believe his family had a fleet of Thames sailing barges. I wonder if here is any connection with your Lawews?

My great great great grandfather was a John Lawes originating from Hampshire and was a customs officer I believe. However he was born 1828 and I have no information prior to that. I would be very interested to know if your John Lawes is part of my family. My great great great grandfather was married twice, Rachel Milson in the first instance and then Isabelle Cooban in the second.

Many Thanks

Claire
