Mikaea,
I'm sure I have contacted you before, I am still curious - Did your William have in the 1851 census: brother John Thom. 8 yr, sister Ann 5, Marg 3. The following census includes brothers Benjamin and James.

Benjamin had a son William Laidlaw Edgar b.1879 who married Emely (Collinson).. I have a letter written in 1916 referring to these two family generations because they are telling Benjamin's daughter in Canada about his death and the funeral guests etc.

Also is mentioned a Mr. W. Edgar (from Cramlington). Many of the people by this time have moved I notice from Lowfell, Co Durham. Originally they were born there......

I wonder if there isn't some connection somewhere as the name and place are the same as yours? These Edgar people were in Allendale about the 1820's - 1790's.

You may find they came from Scotland, they were anglican so it is doubtful these were of the Irish Edgar's.....The last William b. 1879 was called "Laidlaw" this is after a lake in Scotland apparently.

I am working on the Edgar's because my Nanny who looked after me in childhood was one and I need to contact her living relatives regarding some items I have. In the meantime I hope I haven't confused you!!
