I am advised that my paternal grandfather was Charles Hughes born 17.3.1883. His first wife was Mabel Smith who was my grfandmother and who died in 1923. Grandad re-married to Emily, who already had a daughter Joyce and Grandad and Emily had my half-aunt Eileen. We can find my record of Grandad's birth. We understand his father was Sam and his mother Charlotte. The names Porter, Sansom, Winch and Seall come in somewhere and the counties of Herts and Hants are involved. Can anyone help please. you mention the winch family in hertfordshire. I have in my tree a George winch from Herts. He is on the 1841 census with his wife Margaret(born Northumberland) and his children, all born in Wisbech. He is listed as a Publican at South Bank, Wishbech. He died shortly after the census.
Any help ?? Any match ??
