My name is Mary Mckay Iam working on my family tree and would appreciate any help concerning my ancestors. I have establised that my great great granfather Daniel McKay was born in Armagh Ireland circa 1830. He married Catherine McManus fron Co. Derry in 1846 in Crieff in Scotland where my great grandfather was born. His name was also Daniel and had the following siblings Edward, Jane, Michael, Peter, Sarah, Mary and John. The family were living in Blairgowrie Perthshire in 1881.I have hit a brick wall with the Irish connection due to the distruction of the records . I do know that Daniel's father was also Daniel and his mother was either Catherine McKay or Agnes Reilly. Catherine McManus's parents were Sarah Molloy and Charles or Patrick McManus . Sarah then Married Richard McKay ( he was known as the Antrim Bard and wrote Sweet Carlough Bay , Come All you Tramps and Hawker Lads and others ) One thing that might ring some bells they were a family of hawkers and still were till the recent past. They had their own name for this occupation , Pavvy. Another clue Catherine McManus brought hereditary blindness into the family and some of us are still being born with the condition , not me thankfully. So all you Irish and Scottish McKays out there can you help me please.? Mary
