Trying to find Woolfe

I am trying to trace the Jewish branch of my family. The earliest I have got to are my great-great grandparents, Joseph Woolf (the 'e' was aded later) amd Maria Mordecai who were married according to the rites of the New Synagogue in 1842 and in the 1851 census were living at 106 Shoe Lane, St Brides, City of London. Joseph's death certificate would have him born around 1812. Family mythology has them as Polish / German Jews but there's nothing definite on this. Can anyone help me get back beyond 1842?

Hi Rosemary
An old request of yours about Joseph Woolfe. He was a ancestor of mine. Isabella Maria Woolfe(1880) was my maternal grandmother. Her father was Joseph George Woolfe(1844) and his father was George Woolf(1812) married to Maria Mordecai on 28 Sep 1842..George died 22 Jun 1851 and I have a copy of his will, giving address, siblings and offspring.
My e-mail is [email protected] you still have an interest. Regards Roy Fletcher
