I am trying to trace the ancestors of James Duncan born 08/05/1803 born either in the Parish of Craig or the parish of Benholm, Scotland depending on which census you believe! He lived with a widow Elizabeth Mather nee Torrie with whom he had 3 children but never seems to have married her and at some point seems to have left her. He spent the salmon fishing season at Ferryden near Montrose and came to Johnshaven for the other six months. I wonder if he may have had another family in Ferryden? I would be grateful for any information.
