I'm Tom Leeks, I'm just starting to build a family tree and already need some help. My mother was a Cooley before marriage. She was born in India in 1904 when my grandparents were there with the army. I think my grandfather (Henry James Cooley) was a CQMS in the Royal Artillery. His father (my g. grandfather) was serving in the prison service on the I.O.W. when he was injured, I think fatally, in an attack by an inmate. My grandmothers maiden name was Osbo(u)rn(e). So, as you can see, I've not got very far yet but we all have to start somewhere. Can anyone help?

You seem to have quite a lot there Tom!
You can check the National Archives site to see if there is any mention of your grandfather and great grandfather.
Where did your grandparents marry - have you got their marriage certificate for their parents fullnames, occupations?
