my family tree also goes back to Samual Roomes C1788 - son james c 1826 - son George c 1851 and son my grandfarther William born 1880 - but all seem to be from London

Hi Donald
Our Roomes connections are all in London, however strangely enough a number of them were also in the shoe trade, or cordwainers as they were known then. we go back to a Samuel Roomes ca,1785/90 who married a Mary, with James Francis Roomes as a son b.1810 in St Lukes, Middx. which was in central city of London.
Trade is only connection though.

Looking for any information on the Roomes family name,also of my great grand father who i believe originated from Leicester or Leicestershire and was connected to the shoe trade.
