I am Brian Gilbert Christie Pocock and am trying to trace my maternal ancestors - my Grandfather Gilbert Chronwright Christie, was born and lived in Cradock in South Africa and his father came from Forfar (or is buried there) in Scotland. One relation is William Mccron Cronwright Christie.

I can not find a link with you, but I also have gilbert as a middle name, which occures in every generation and branch of my tree back to 1715. Which was when the Gilchrist's changed their name to Christie so they did not get killed by the English.
There are various origins for the christie name, it seam that my side started in Killin, perthshire which is not far from Forfar. Angus also had a lot of christie.
