Hello David

I've found the record for Geo Thurston, accompanied by L Thurston (wife) and E E Thurston (son), but there is no mention of George Thomas Thurston. Here are the details of the record:

Name: Geo THURSTON
Date of departure: 30 March 1905
Port of departure: Liverpool
Passenger destination port: Halifax, Canada
Passenger destination: Halifax, Canada

Age: Adult
Marital Status: Married
Sex: Male
Occupation: Farmer
Passenger recorded on: Page 2 of 28

Ship: KENSINGTON
Official Number: 0
Master's name: M H Morle
Steamship Line: Dominion Line
Where bound: Portland, USA
Square feet: 26974
Registered tonnage: 5645
Passengers on voyage: 1431

I wondered if perhaps George Thomas had travelled at a different time from the rest of the family, so I broadened my search to cover 1900 - 1915 and included all ports, but only found one other possible George, and his middle initial was W and he was travelling with a Joseph Thurston, in 1908, from Liverpool to Montreal. So then I wondered if perhaps he was listed as Thomas Thurston and found a Thomas Thurston travelling in 1910 from Liverpool to Quebec. His occupation was listed as Labourer.

Then I had another inspiration and broadened my search to any Thurston, including variants, and found a record for a T Thurston in 1905 which looks more hopeful. He's recorded as being 21 and a farmer (many of the records don't include ages, merely stating "Adult"). Anyway, just in case it's the right person, here are the details:

Name: T THURSTON
Date of departure: 25 April 1905
Port of departure: Liverpool
Passenger destination port: Quebec, Canada
Passenger destination: Quebec, Canada

Age: 21
Marital Status: Single
Sex: Male
Occupation: Farmer
Passenger recorded on: Page 10 of 24

Ship: LAKE CHAMPLAIN
Official Number: 0
Master's name: William Stewart
Steamship Line:
Where bound: Montreal, Canada
Square feet: 24385
Registered tonnage: 7392
Passengers on voyage: 1239

Can you supply any further information to help track down your elusive grandfather? I'd be glad to help if I can.

Best wishes
Jackie (nee Thurston)

David

I would be grateful if anyone who has a sub to findmypast.com could look up the details of a sailing for me in the new records. George Thurston, 39, Louisa Thurston, 40, George Thomas Thurston, c20, and Ernest Edward Thurston, c17, shipped out from Liverpool to Halifax, Canada in 1905. I would like the shipping record detais, please - George jnr is my grandfather. Thank you for your help, David binge
