Dear Janet, I don't know if there is any connection, but my granddad was Sydney Guile from Brighton married to Doris Sunbeam Shilling from Whitstable. He was born in 1905 and had a sister called Florence and some brothers I don't know the names of. I would be interested to hear of any connections
Best Wishes Wendy

Hi Janet.
I am researching my Fathers first wife and have arrived at a Harriet Mary Haylar (nee Guile),.
Born 16 November 1879 in Tortington, near Arundel, Sussex.
Father: George Guile. Occupation: Groom.
Mother: Fanny (nee White).
She married my Father as a Widow in Littlehampton 1 June 1919, by which time George had died, and she died in the Royal Sussex Hospital in Brighton 7 October 1927.
It is rumoured that she had a Son prior to this marriage but I have no information on this.
I don't know if any of this is any help to you, or whether you have any further information that you may be kind enough to return which would add to my collection.
Best regards,
Terry Knight.
