Trying to find Former comrades

Is there anyone who served with my late father (or has a relative that may have mentioned him) Terence (Terry) Hugh Guyon Marler, between 1945 and 1947 in the Middlesex Regiment (where he was a 2nd Lieutenant) or when he was made temporary Captain and was drafted to serve in the Kings African Rifles in Ethiopia. I have been told that his papers may have been lost when the military was disbanded as they are unable to find anything, although he is mentioned in the archives at Kew. I'm desperate to know which Battallion of the Middlesex Regiment he was with and any other info that I can fill the gaps in with. Dad wasn't one to discuss his army days and the only photo I have is one that my adopted mum gave me but I can't see what is on the lapel. I thought my adopted mum could help but I've only just discovered that she only met my father when he left the army so she's as much in the dark as me and my stepmother had apparently given the photo of him and the battallion to an uncle of my dads, someone I had no knowledge of. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
