i am seeking any information about Jane Montague & her son Thomas born on the 17th April 1853. Thomas' birth certificate copy shows her living at 28 Barnet Grove, Bethnal Grove. I believe this is in Bethnal Green,Middlesex,UK. I believe Jane to be my Great Grand Mother. I am the Grand Son of a Thomas Montague Smith. I believe Thomas' father was an Alexander Thomas Smith born about 1830. It seems that Thomas added the Smith to his name to enter the British Army. The 1871 England Census shows him in Canterbury Barracks & another 1871 Census shows him at The Citadel Barracks Western Heights. He served in Afghanistan in 1877-1882,was decorated. Returned to Tanshelf, Yorkshire where he married my Grand Mother Alice Mary Singleton on the 6th december 1882. Any formation to Ron Smith Australia. |
