Trying to find Green

I am still trying to find the Date of Birth of my great grandfather John Green. He was baptised in Kidderminster in 1846, the son of John and Cecilia, and was said to have been born in Kidderminster. Of course I realise that he may not have been registered, although registration became compulsory sometime in 1837. I want to find the maiden name of Cecilia, and the only way I know of is to get a copy of John's Birth Certificate. However, I have drawn a blank with Kidderminster record Office, and even Southport can't find him. I tried to find a marriage between John Green and Cecilia ????, but no result that wasn't going to a) cost me a lot of money and b) take longer than I have! Have any of you out there anything more? I'd be most grateful for this information, as I have been looking for it for about 25 years! I can't pursue this family with any certainty until I know this one simple fact! Thanks. Jenny
